Seattle-based wildlife photographer focused in the Pacific Northwest, coastal British Columbia and Polar regions

Back in the days of film, I was heavily involved in skydiving and freefall photography. One regrettable day, after a hard canopy opening, I watched as my uninsured cameras tumbled to earth from 2,500 ft. The cameras were obviously destroyed and I never thought I'd revisit photography. A few years later, while vacationing with my wife in Costa Rica, I randomly picked up her camera and began photographing hummingbirds. The experience instantly rekindled my desire to create intriguing images.

In the book Outliers, Malcolm Gladwell suggests achieving mastery in a chosen field requires approximately 10,000 hours of practice. This website is intended to document my own 10,000-hour journey in photography, showcasing some of my images and projects along the way. I don't believe photography can be "mastered" in 10,000 hours, but it should serve as a nice milestone to see how my images and approaches evolve over time.
